Agribusiness, education highlight Farmers Day 2/16/10

The Branch Area Careers Center in Coldwater was busy on Monday.
For most, it was a national holiday called Presidents Day but for many Branch County residents it is better known as "Farmers Day."
For 43 years Farmers Day has offered an educational opportunity for farmers and 4-H members. It's a chance for friends to meet and for vendors to seek new customers.
Agribusiness is the focus of Farmers Day. While children were happy with free ice cream, balloons and popcorn provided by vendors, in other parts of the building agribusiness people were taking a "restricted pesticide use" test by the Michigan Department of Agriculture so they can be licenced and ready for spring planting. The event featured at least 14 seminar options.
